SANDY HILL DAYS COMMITTEE MEMBER

As all of the returning patrons of Sandy Hill Days know this event is held on the Friday and Saturday following Labor Day each year. It started with a celebration of the past with the 175th Anniversary of the founding of the Village. As we honor our past, we celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of the Village, we all call home. Some of us have moved away, some have stayed in the Village or surrounding areas and some remain in our homesteads. In each case, we still have roots and attachments to the Village and wish to see it prosper. Each of us recall favorite memories and it is to these that the Committee addresses the call of community spirit to all the visitors of the Sandy Hill Days Event. Remember, recall, enjoy and give back to the community a spirit of cooperation, faith and hope for the future.
As you know the Sandy Hill Days Committee has striven each year to bring to the citizens of Hudson Falls and the surrounding communities a week-end of fun and entertainment. Each year, we try to keep the history of the area a feature, bring back favorites and add a little something new. There will be a few different bands along with the old favorites.
As we go forward into the future, we hope a few more citizens will be willing to join us in our planning of this event, after all, the core members are all getting a little older and we need new members to help us put added zing into the future of Sandy Hill Days, while we keep the yesteryear in focus.
So, join us on the first Thursday of each month beginning in February at 7:00 p.m. and help us preserve this event we all have come to look forward to and enjoy each year. Meetings are held at the Kingsbury Town Hall or Hudson Falls Village Hall.

*Through the Peer Advocacy program, one-to-one support is provided to help individuals to explore their options, connect with community resources and resolve issues relating to their living arrangements, educational or work goals and personal relationships. *A confidential place to call and discuss mental health, substance abuse and everyday life issues with peers who are stable in their own recovery. The Warmline is staffed by individuals who have experienced similar issues and they provide callers with mental wellness support and community resources information.

WARSAW,NY:I job trained the mentally challenged/bipolar community in janitorial work. Cleaning county buildings like highway department,human resources building, & board of elections during the week.I also cleaned the Attica,NY & Silver Springs,NY railroad buildings on the weekends.I felt it important that the workers I trained during the week also learn how to do the railroad buildings on the weekends.I did this until our bid/contract ended.

Cleaned bathrooms all along the boardwalk...helped with teaching others I worked with how to clean the bathrooms...

VICTIM SERVICES TRAINING(with a goal to become a Victim Services Advocate)

I had just started Victim Services Training at Wyoming County Victim Services in 1995 when my mother herself had become a crime victim & I was unable to complete the training due to caring for her...It wasn't long after that she had her heart attack...I had attempted to take it other times through the years despite still caring for my mother & the timing wasn't right.

**My mother is doing better these days & now it is time for me...I am looking to expand upon my expertise & work with local programs if not,online...**

CNA TRAINEE(Certified Nursing Assistant)

I was just into my last week of CNA TRAINEE classes at Eastside Nursing Home when I had an allergic reaction to a medication.I had broke out in hives so bad that I had to have ice packs on my hands.As a result they wouldn't let me come in to class that day.Which meant that by missing one class I could not finish that last week of CNA TRAINEE classes...

Dishwasher(promoted to night charge dishwasher)

I had just been promoted to night charge dishwasher when Port of Ale Restaurant went out of business...

*help prep cook with lettuce,de-vein shrimp,etc...
*take out garbage/bust up boxes,wash down walls,etc...
*As night charge dishwasher it would have also been my job to train other dishwashers...

Kelly is ever present for us at CCPU! She is dedicated in helping us any way needed when researching and getting cases out to the public regarding Missing persons and Cold cases of all types. She has been a person who tries to always be there to let people know she is able and willing to go above and beyond what she knows and is always stretching her limits to learn as much as possible whenever possible. Kelly is very adaptable in all situations and I highly prize her as a personal friend and advocate. I would recommend Kelly for any position available as I know she would do her best in it.

Criminal Justice goals:Crime scene investigation,criminal personality profiling,criminal psychology,victimology,child abuse awareness & distribution of amber alerts & missing exploited posters-missing persons,helping crime &/or sexual assault victims-possibly as an advocate.
Human Services goals:To possibly assist the mentally challenged community in skills-through programs like social club,continuing day treatment,groups,etc.,to continue with job training the mentally challenged in a sheltered environment within the area of non-profit retail,etc. -possibly as a life skills coach or mental health peer specialist...

I was unable to complete degree @ the old GCC/Warsaw Wyoming Campus Center(Warsaw,NY) due to caring for mother as a result of her heart issues...

I attended PCS on/off during 1988 to 1990 but was unable to graduate from PCS due to having a hard time getting over my father's death...I eventually obtained my GED & went on to college...

I was unable to graduate ACS due to father's passing & my having to move away...

I moved out to my Aunt's house because my Aunt thought it would help my dad(her brother-in-law)not worry about me so much in regards to his health.I attended Canandaigua Academy(in Canandaigua, NY) for the month of May only to end up moving back home due to my father's health(diabetes/heart issues)declining even more so...he passed away January 9th,1988.
